Similiar to how on TV shows they alaways have artists singing into a mic without a pop screen because it makes for a better camera shot. I agree they are a novelty that's why i posted it. I think it's pretty ingenious for him to do it, they actually sound decent and at only $35 it makes a great conversation piece. Won't give you much of a stereo image or spread.<br /><br />Shot gun cartridge microphones strike me as a bit of a gimick really.
