Sony Nextep Computer Concept for 2020 by Hiromi Kiriki & Yanko Design
I came across this on Stumbleupon.com. Its's a prototype of a wearable computer that's currently being developed by Hiromi Kiriki and Yanko Design for Sony. They say it will be available in 2020. I'm willing to bet that you will see ads for this in time for the 2014 World Cup.
"Our present need for internet connectivity is so profound that secondary devices like the Nextep Computer are bound to happen. Developed to be worn as a bracelet, this computer concept is constructed out of a flexible OLED touchscreen. Bias Pitchcraft $20 - that's 87% off!

- Pitch Correction Key Menu- Choose the root note of the scale selected in the Scale pop-up menu.
- Pitch Correction Time Slider- Adjust the speed at which pitch correction is applied — for small corrections, generally a slower correction time works best while a faster time may be used for more exaggerated pitch correction effects such as those used by many popular artists.
- Pitch Correction Detune Slider- Allows setting the reference frequency used for tuning (i.e., from 440 Hz to 445 Hz
- Pitch Correction Custom Scale Controls- Define custom scales using the keyboard, a MIDI keyboard, and the Ignore Note checkboxes.
- Tuning Meter- Displays the current amount of tuning in real-time

Party Like A Techie_Music Industry Analysis

One of my new Google+ friends (Chris Clayton) brought this article to my attention. Its written by none other than Bob Lefsetz. In the article he states that techies are the new rock stars and artists/musicians should follow their lead,
"Party like a rock star. We hear that all the time. That so and so is a rock star. You want to know who’s a rock star? The techies. The cofounders of Google have a veritable air force, and they’re not telling everybody about it. Rock stars used to function off the grid. Now the techies do and the musicians are positively mainstream.
The public has voted. The money is in tech. Because it’s the land of excitement, where innovators go to blow our minds. That used to be music’s domain. But music abdicated its position. If music is to count again it must take the above lessons very seriously, or else it will be doomed to be the second-class citizen it has become."
Here's another excerpt:
"3. Focus on the product first, not the money! Google, Foursquare, Twitter, Facebook, each and every tech startup began without a business plan. When you start playing music and immediately want to get paid you’re sending the wrong message. Make it about the product first, figure out how to make money second.
4. It’s all about the users. Sure, Facebook is constantly changing its privacy settings, but do you notice the backlash?
5. Marketing comes last, if at all. Google didn’t advertise until long after it became a household name.
6. Position yourself as cutting edge, as new. No tech startup gets a toehold unless it’s doing something new, why do you think you’re going to be a big success in music replicating what everybody else does?
7. Position yourself as a renegade. That’s part of the hoodie ethic in tech. In music everybody dresses up in finery and kisses the butt of anybody who might get them ahead, radio, the press, the guy at the label. These people should be afraid of you, they should not understand you, they should be your friend last.
8. Education/practice. Mark Zuckerberg went to Harvard, as did Bill Gates. Why do you think you can make it in music if you’ve got no talent and haven’t practiced? You don’t get into Harvard on a whim, you’ve got to perform for twelve years in advance, get great SATs, have incredible grades. Bill Gates was coding when he was still wet behind the ears. If you started playing yesterday and expect to be famous tomorrow, we’re laughing."

Slate Pro Audio Dragon - Dynamics Processor
The Slate Pro Audio Dragon is an extremely versatile, well built and great sounding compressor/ limiter.
Whether you work ITB, OTB or hybrid (combination of both) this compressor/limiter would be a great addition to your studio. Useful for both tracking and mixing. Link two for use on stereo groups/busses or master out of your favorite DAW.

The DRAGON starts with a classic FET compressor circuit, reminiscent of vintage units from the 60's and 70's. But the SLATE PRO AUDIO engineers enhanced the circuitry of the unit with a mastering grade signal path, including a CLASS A output section based around a custom-made transformer. The result is a compression quality that is rich and warm, but is also capable of sharp and aggressive tones. But this is only the start of what the DRAGON can do."

The mode switches all live up to their names very well too. Boom does indeed fill out that bottom end (although you’ll need full-range monitors and a good room to really appreciate the magic going on in the bottom octave) and Vintage brings that harmonic complexity associated with transformers and valves. Sheen really does smooth out the top end in a classic vintage opto-comp way, while Bite introduces an edge that really helps the source cut through."
