Debra M. Coughlin has been named exec VP-global chief marketing officer of DraftFCB. Since 2007, Ms. Coughlin had been at Citigroup as exec VP-CMO for CitiCards and exec VP-branding and advertising for Citi NA's consumer brand. Prior to Citi, she was senior VP-global brand building at MasterCard, where she was a principal architect of the "Priceless" campaign. She has had agency experience at JWT, where she was senior partner-management director, and Y&R, where she was senior VP-global group director. Ms. Coughlin has won Grand and Gold Effies, AME Awards and Cannes Lions for her work for clients including Colgate-Palmolive and Kraft Foods, as well as MasterCard and Citi.
Maryam Banikarim was appointed senior VP and CMO of Gannett Co., a newly created position. She joins Gannett from NBC Universal, where she was senior VP-integrated sales marketing, overseeing marketing for NBC Universal and the company's cross-platform initiatives, including Women at NBCU, Green is Universal and Healthy at NBCU. Before that, she was CMO of Univision Communications. Ms. Banikarim was recently selected by CableFAX for their "Most Influential Minorities in Cable" list (2010). She was also selected by the New York Post as one of the "50 Most Powerful Women in New York" (2008) and was in Crain's New York Business' 2008 "40 under 40" list as well as Advertising Age's "40 under 40" in 2006.
BuzzLogic has appointed Dave Hills as its CEO. Before coming to BuzzLogic, Mr. Hills was a General Partner with KPG Ventures, a venture-capital firm specializing in seed-stage, consumer internet-technology companies. Previously, as president, CEO and director of LookSmart, he rebuilt the company's ad network, quadrupled audiences to LookSmart sites and licensed the company's ad center to sites such as Ask.com. He has also served as president-media Solutions for 24/7 Real Media and was chief operating officer and president-sales for About, Inc. Other new appointments to the BuzzLogic executive team include Peter O'Sullivan as chief revenue officer and Seph Zdarko as chief operating officer.
Nancy Koors has joined Empower MediaMarketing as chief strategy officer. Ms. Koors most recently worked at Resource Interactive, where she was chief operating officer. Over her 22-year career, she has acquired marketing, communication and operational experience working for or with brands including Johnson & Johnson, P&G and Deloitte & Touche. In 1996, she founded the Cincinnati Chapter of the Association of Internet Professionals.
Viacom International Media Networks has promoted Tom Armstrong to VP-digital sales, Viacom Brand Solutions International, based in the company's London headquarters. He returns to the U.K. after four years in Australia, where he was VP-business development and digital, MTV Networks Australia and New Zealand. Previous to his four years there, Mr. Armstrong was director-sales for the Nordic & Emerging Markets at Discovery, and international sales and development manager at Two Way TV. He began his career at MTV Networks Europe in the commercial operations team in 1996.
Momentum Worldwide has hired Adrienne Scordato as VP-director of global communications, replacing Stephanie Rudnick. Prior to joining Momentum Worldwide, Ms. Scordato handled PR and corporate communications initiatives for digital shop T3. Before that, she was VP-director of corporate communications for Aegis Media North America. Her previous work includes leading communications for Susan G. Komen for the Cure in New York. She also spent time at global search firm Gundersen Partners, and began her career at Interpublic Group's Bozell Worldwide.
Sharethrough has tapped Avi Brown as VP-platform operations. Most recently VP-ad operations at Break Media, Mr. Brown will oversee the delivery and optimization of all ad campaigns at Sharethrough, and work closely with the product team on the development of Sharethrough's social video platform. Prior to Break Media, Mr.Brown led ad operations at BuzzMedia.
